About Us

We believe in honoring life and death

Finger Lakes Doulas was founded on a mission to provide compassion and support for those nearing the end of life and their loved ones. We believe in honoring life by thoughtfully planning for the end of life.

The idea of Finger Lakes Doulas is many years in the making. Finger Lakes Doulas llc was founded by Christine. She is an end of life doula, a 500 hour registered yoga teacher, a wife, sister, friend, daughter, aunt and a human experiencing all the joy, beauty and messiness of life. Christine has completed end of life doula training with INELDA and the University of Vermont.

From a young age, Christine wondered about consciousness, life and death. She has witnessed loved ones experience death in a variety of ways: age-related, tragic accidents, suicide, heart attacks, and cancer. In her twenties, Christine received cancer treatment. This experience provided her with an opportunity to deeply explore her own mortality.

Later in her life, Christine cared for several family members as they approached and experienced the end of life. Over the years, Christine has heard many people say they would have done things differently if they could have planned, or if they had more support, or if they had thought about things in advance. Christine founded Finger Lakes Doulas llc to assist those wanting to document their wishes in advance, and to provide support to those nearing the end of life, and their loved ones.

Christine has a PhD in Information Studies and has worked in industry and academia.
